Death
On January 7 of 1943, Nikola Tesla passed away in a New York hotel. Despite all his creations, he died broke and in debt, with barely a penny to his name. Tesla's death was a result of coronary thrombosis, or more widely known as a blood clot, forming inside his heart. He died in his hotel room, and his body wasn't discovered until a maid entered the room and found him. After his death, his belongings were seized by the US government, to be examined for anything of a military nature. After being deemed safe, Tesla's possessions were returned to his family, and now many of his papers reside in the Nikola Tesla Museum in Belgrade, Serbia, along with his ashes.
